nanoco Headquarter

The commercial headquarter of the nanoco Group is located above the nanoHome Gallery. The requirement of this project is to fit the existing and future administration needs of the parent group and new commercial ventures. As with the gallery spaces below, the key challenge was to accommodate the commercial operations in a very bright interior. As it soon became clear, a secondary consideration was that the original accommodation design brief had not fully anticipated the rapid growth of the group, which required a higher density of people across all divisions to be distributed across the 4 available levels.

In creating a layout, Darkhorse adopted a strategy of ignoring the light, glare, and outlook, as the light and glare must be fully blocked in order to be appropriate for easy office use, and arrange seating in a manner that creates a sense of group and being one, and not fragmented teams that would become isolated and uninformed.

A key element that was missing but we insisted upon was the provision of group meeting and working, with different flexible breakout spaces to be created in all areas of the design. These elements ultimate breakdown the intensity of the fixed layouts and introduce a playful more relaxing way of working and interacting with colleagues and their tasks.

Each level also has director rooms, formal meeting rooms, storage and pantries for staff uses, and a light and color material palette that counter the need to close the window blinds throughout the office day.
